![]() The Assistant DA’s character is faced with hard ethical/moral decisions, some of which have some surprisingly positive outcomes. On the positive side, and despite the theme of murder, the movie upholds some moral values. The movie’s other negative aspect is a scene of implied sexual promiscuity and discussion throughout the movie involving the adultery between the wife and detective. The attempted murder scene, plus another death in the film, is depicted with some blood, but very briefly and with no “gore.” Crawford is a very seductive character whose tactics may make many viewers laugh, but he is never represented as a hero in the story. There are some strong obscenities, however. The story and action move along well and keep the audience “enticed” throughout the film. Although the entire plot of the movie deals with murder and infidelity, it is very redemptive at the end. Hopkins brings his Academy Award quality back to the screen, and Gosling continues to prove himself as one of today’s true rising stars. The directing, writing and acting in FRACTURE are all superb. And, whether Jennifer will survive her wounds only adds to the suspense. Nothing is as easy as it seems, however, especially this case. It is a seemingly “slam dunk” case for the prosecutor assigned to the case, hot shot assistant district attorney Willy Beachum (played by Ryan Gosling). Among the police officers arriving at the crime scene at Crawford’s home is hostage negotiator Detective Rob Nunally (played by Billy Burke). The police soon arrive and believe Crawford is only holding his wife hostage.
